using mapping to integrate the city

Following our appointment to develop an information system for Newcastle University, we have developed an integrated information system across Newcastle City which incorporates the Business Improvement District (NE1), Newcastle City council's transport and tourism departments and St James Park (Newcastle United). The result is a common system and approach that links all parts of the city with a single language.

The pilot scheme that was implemented in the NE1 district seamlessly integrates with the existing Newcastle University on-street pedestrian information system. Both have been developed using the city's Walk/Ride hand-held map as the foundation, using a common graphic information system whilst retaining the respective identities. The city information system has recently developed further to encompass the information system for the football stadium and has informed an update of the city's hand-held map.
