Revealing the town’s persona

fwdesign was commissioned by Blackpool Council in November 2009 to develop an information and wayfinding system that addressed both pedestrian and vehicular needs. We were asked to work in partnership with Aecom to capitalise on both companies’ unique specialities. Our appointment was seen as an opportunity to create a comprehensive system that met the needs of the town and set out a vision for the future.

The vision begins with a single, coherent system that captures and celebrates Blackpool’s unique character. Through in-depth research, stakeholder consultation and creative thinking, an information system has been developed that captures and celebrates Blackpool’s persona, and promotes its wider offer to visitors and residents alike through a range of media and channels.

Our information system, along with the regeneration effort currently underway across the town, will play a key role in its revitalisation, “Revealing Blackpool" to a new generation.
