Smart Column is located in busy, high profile interchanges, assisting those travelling on public transport to plan their journey and check for delays. It comprises a number of heat-generating electronic devices, so the design of the Smart Column needs to deliver on an exacting functional level as well as aesthetically fitting into its surroundings and promoting the transport operator’s brand – in this case London Underground.

After successful trials, both London Underground and several regional networks are planning to roll out over the next 2-3 years.
