Custom House Quay is a listed building in Dublin’s regenerated Docklands. A tobacco warehouse brought back to life as nightclub, art gallery and retail destination, the predominant architectural feature is now a huge expanse of glass on the riverfront. We capitalised on this, creating an etched effect logo that does not obstruct the light, or conflict with the complex roofline, yet creates a bold statement overlooking the River Liffey. |
The sign family we created for interior wayfinding – tall glass monoliths held within a granite base – reflects the architect’s treatment of the refurbishment. We were also able to enhance the exterior signage to direct visitors more easily to CHQ, as a result of our broader involvement with Dublin Docklands Development Authority.
CHQ is now in its ‘soft launch’ phase and will open officially early in 2008. |
